Seven Surprising Things Your Insurance Policies Cover-- Part 1

From the May 4, 2014, Chicago Tribune by Cameron Huddleston, Kipplinger Consumer News Service.

"Accidents happen.  That's why you have insurance."  You know about standard claims, "But what if your dog bites the mailman? A meteorite crashes through your roof" Or rioters torch your car (or business as in Ferguson)?  Suddenly, the answers or less clear."

Here are seven things you might not know that you have coverage in their event.

1.  VOLCANIC DAMAGE--  A definite possibility in some parts of the country.  But, you're covered, even here in Illinois.  But, your home isn't covered by earthquake damage and floods on standard policies.

2.  RODENT DAMAGE TO YOUR CAR-- Mice chewing on your wires?  Considered an "other than collision" auto claim.  But, some policies don't cover it.
