Last week I was writing about the early Beatles hit "Twist & Shout" and mentioned the song had originally been sung by a R&B group called the Top Notes.
The group was founded in Philadelphia in the 1950s and featured vocalist Curtis Harmon on the piano. In 1952. they had their debit single "For Love of All" on the Jubilee labels which became a minor regional hit. However, the source wasn't sure if this was the Top Notes group that signed with Atlantic and had the first version of "Twist & Shout."
