If I played his "When a Man Loves a Woman" one time, I played it hundreds of times back when I was deejaying. Whenever I wanted a song guaranteed to get folks up for some slow dancing, this would be the one. Even if they had already been dancing three or four slow ones, they'd dance one more.
And just about every wedding wanted this one played, despite the fact it wasn't a very good one for true love as the song is about a man whose heart has been broken by a mean woman, but he still loves her.
Anyway, Mr. Sledge died earlier this week.

Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.
