1st--  Annual health expenditure as a percentage of GDP: 17.9%

1st--  U.S.-registered patents:  3,236,285

1st--  Prison population:  2.2 million

3rd--  Total estimated population:  318,892,103

3rd--  Land area:  3,794,000 square miles.

3rd--  Annual household spending:  $31,227

3rd--  Available military manpower in 2013:  145,212,012

5th--  Red meat consumed per day, 2011:  332 grams

10th--  Carbon emissions, 2010:  17.6 metric tons per person

13th--  Refugee population:  263,662
