So, That's Why

Yesterday, returning home from a rather chilly boating expedition and dinner at the Mega restaurant in Fox Lake, we approached Sunset Road off US-12 and were preparing to make a turn on it when we saw that it was closed.

So, we continued on to Johnsburg/Wilmot Road and turned left onto Johnsburg Road. before we could get to Sunset, we were once again stopped. This time we had to do a u-turn. Back on US-12 again, we turned in at the road by our bank and entered the subdivision by the back way. Third time's the charm.

Puzzled by the road closings, we went out to Sunset and headed east. We were stopped again at the crest of the hill going down to Johnsburg Road. But, this time we could see a cherry picker doing something to the telephone pole.

We knew the light had been out, but making so many road closures wouldn't explain a simple bulb replacement.

When we got home, we found that power had been out. Just love resetting those VCRs.

This morning, liz sent me an article explaining it. yesterday, about 3:20 pm, a woman crashed into the telephone pole, breaking it. She was taken by helicopter to a local hospital. The intersection of Sunset and Johnsburg reopened ar around 7 pm.
