Music Deaths in 2014: Bobby Womack

BOBBY WOMACK, Died June 27, 2014, age 70.

Played guitar on tour with Sam Cooke and sessions with Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, Box Tops, Wilson Pickett and Sly and the Family Stone.  Had 14 songs in the Billboard Hot 100.

Born in Cleveland in 1944.  His first group was Valentino which had a minor hit with "Lookin' for a Love" in 1962, which became a big hit for the J. Geils Band.  Their "It's All Over Now" became a 1964 hit for the Rolling Stones.

He went solo in 1965 and married Sam Cooke's widow.  "That's the Way I Feel About Cha" went to #27 in 1972 and he had his own version of "Lookin' for a Love" which went to #10 in 1974.  Elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
