Where Were You January 9, 1967?-- Part 4

GOOD THING-- PAUL REVERE & THE RAIDERS-- a great rocker in the top ten. (At least these guys wore American duds. The two Chicago groups on the chart, the Buckinghams and New Colony Six had a British feel to their names.)
I HAD TOO MUCH TO DREAM LAST NIGHT-- ELECTRIC PRUNES-- (A great garage rocker, or is that Frat Rock? I used to think they said "I Had Too Much to Drink Last Night.)

LOVE YOU SO MUCH-- NEW COLONY SIX-- bona fide pop hit by Chicago's own. (My favorite Chicago 60s band.)
TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS-- OTIS REDDING-- (Soul at its best. Otis wrote the dictionary of soul. sadly, we would lose him in 1967.)

KIND OF A DRAG-- BUCKINGHAMS-- Loads of Chicago bands in the radio on this date in '67. Top Ten and on their way to #1 in the country on Billboard's Top 100 chart with this song. (Now, doesn't Buckingham sound British or is it that Fleetwood Mac guy, or maybe a famous water fountain in Chicago.)

(I'M NOT YOUR) STEPPIN' STONE-- MONKEES-- The "B" side of the number one song in Chicago, a two-sided hit (by these lads from Liverpo...er US)
I'M A BELIEVER-- MONKEES-- The "A" side
