Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

Going Back to the Summer of 1971-- Part 4

And the best part of going back these 40 years, we get to do it again the first Sunday of the next three months.

MIDNIGHT MAN-- JAMES GANG-- From their Thirds album, side 2. Joe Walsh's last go around with the group. (Our new US Representative from our district is Joe Walsh, unfortunately one of those Tea Partiers and we all know who they are for now. Every time I hear his name, I can't help but think of the other Joe Walsh, the one who is a musician.)
MOVE OVER-- JANIS JOPLIN-- Five months old and still getting lots of spins. Lead-off selection of her Pearl album.

CAN'T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKIN'-- ROLLING STONES-- Sticky Fingers was just a few weeks old. Side one. Great 7 minute jam.
LOVE'S MADE A FOOL OUT OF YOU-- COCHISE-- A bit of a rarity, although it was in the Top Ten here in Chicago. Written in 1958 by Buddy Holly who originally recorded it as well. Bobby Fuller Four also had a hit with it in 1966. (I sort of remembered the song, but not the group.)

LOVE HER MADLY-- DOORS-- From their current release, LA Woman.
GET IT ON-- CHASE-- the late-great Bill Chase. (One really fine horn band!!)

IT DON'T COME EASY-- RINGO STARR-- (Old Ringo could sure pick a good one to sing with his limited ability.)
BEWARE OF DARKNESS-- LEON RUSSELL-- A real Indian beat to a George Harrison tune because it is in the hands of a good pal of George's. From his Leon Russell and the Shelter People album that was in our collections. Later on in the summer, leon was appearing with Harrison on the stage at Madison Square Garden in the Concert for Bangladesh.

Lovin' It. --RoadDog

YOU MIGHT BE FROM CHICAGO IF...You don't pronounce the "S" at the end of Illinois.
