WLS Top 40 for September 2, 1968-- Part 5: "Can't Stop Dancing"

20.  LOVE MAKES A WOMAN--  Barbara Acklin     #15   By far her biggest hit.   R&B singer/songwriter from Chicago.  Born 1944.  Another song you can'y help but move to.

19.  WORKIN' ON A GROOVY THING--  Patti Drew    #62   Great slow dancing song.  Love the guy with that bass voice.  Born in 1944 in Charleston, S.C..  Moved to Evanston, Illinois in 1956.  This song written by Neil Sedaka and Roger Atkins.

18.  CAN'T STOP DANCING--  Archie Bell & the Drells    #9  Actual title "I Can't Stop Dancing."  His second biggest hit after "Tighten Up" (#1-1968) earlier in the year.  Like he said, he's from Texas.

17.  HUSH--  Deep Purple    #4    Their biggest hit until 1973's "Smoke On the Water" which also peaked at #4.   British pioneer heavy-metal band formed by Ritchie Blackmore.  Cover of a Billy Joe Royal song from 1967 where they definitely took it for a different spin.

16.  ALICE LONG--  Boyce / Hart     #27   Actual Title "Alice Long (You're Still My Favorite Girlfriend)".  Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart.  Songwriting duo and production team.
