Listen to this man. Seven years of college, you know. Trying to reason with 2020 and, now, 2022.

2000-2009 in Review-- Part 1

I'll call it that because no one still knows what this decade should be called in short form. Was it the "Aughts," "Double-Os" or "Os?" Who knows? Any Way.

From the Jan. 1, 2010, Daily Herald. The Daily herald is the newspaper of the northwest suburbs.

1. SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

2. BLACK MAN from Chicago, Barack Obama, elected president. Isn't he part white?

3. The BROWN'S CHICKEN case had grown cold, but in 2002, a tip led to the arrest of Juan Luna and James Degorski. Both found guilty, but no death penalty with life without parole.

4. COLUMBINE HIGH SCHOOL, VIRGINIA TECH and NORTHERN ILLINOIS murders. As a former teacher, this hits home, especially the last school which I attended.

5. Illinois Governor George Ryan's MORATORIUM on the death penalty in 2000.

6. The end of the O'HARE EXPANSION fight. It will proceed.

7. Record number of home FORECLOSURES. One of every 42 homes in Chicagoland foreclosed.

8. Two Illinois governors face CORRUPTION charges. Ryan to jail in 2008. Blagojevich arrested.

9. OPEN ROAD TOLLING 2005. The electronic I-Pass. Those without pay double. Illinois finds another way to rip off people.

10. Watch out for RED LIGHT CAMERAS. Illinois finds another way to rip off folks.
