Goodbye Nancy Faust

On another sad note for the White Sox, long-time organist Nancy Faust has retired after playing at Comiskey Park (I don't use that other name) for 41 years. She was the Sox and provided me with much entertainment back in the 70s and 80s when I used to go a lot to Chicago's South Side.

Nancy Faust set the level for major league organists. She was one of the first to play song snippets about players when they came to bat, and of course, whenever you hear "Na Na, Hey Hey, Goodbye," that was Nancy who started that in the 1977 Southside Hitmen season.

I have talked with her on occasion and she was always available to fans, always with a smile. I even have an album of her playing music out at Comiskey.

She will be missed.

As Bob Hope Would Say, Nancy, "Thanks for the Memories." --RoadDog
