Yesterday, we went over to the Polish American Legion in McHenry, Illinois, for their monthly brunch. When we got there, we found the place so crowded that people were eating while standing up. That wasn't our scene so we left and went elsewhere to eat.
As we were leaving, we noticed that a person ran out and called for some workers to come in very quickly.
Last night when we got home, we found out that they had had a bad fire and a whole lot of damage was done. It must have started right when we were leaving, judging from the time of the fire given in the newspaper.
Fortunately, there were no injuries and most of the plaques and important stuff was saved.
The club has been there since 1980 and plan to continue elsewhere while it is rebuilt.
Sure glad we had left.
They don't know for sure how it started. But, someone mentioned that there have now been three restaurant fires in the last several months in the McHenry area: Wings and Things completely burned down. Rusty Nail had damage.
