JSS: First Grass Cutting-- RL Carnival Still There--Chiang Jiang Buffet-

JSS--  Just Some Stuff.

1.  FIRST GRASS CUTTING--  Two weeks ago, I took the lawn tractor out to cut the grass for the first time this season.  However, even though I had just had a company get it ready for the season, half way through, the belt on the deck broke.  I finally got it back Wednesday and cut the lawn which by then really, really needed it.

2. RL CARNIVAL STILL THERE--  Today, we went to Round Lake for our semi-annual dental check ups and cleaning.  And, over by the Big Lots (old Eagle grocery store) we saw a Ferris wheel and other items belonging to the infamous, bring-on-the-bad-weather, Round lake spring carnival.

That would explain the crummy weather last weekend and week before that.  Very warm today but extremely windy.  We'll have to see what the carnival does to this weekend's weather.

3. CHIANG JIANG  BUFFET--  We ate at one of our favorite places in Round Lake Beach after the dental appointments, Chiang Jiang, a Chinese buffet.  It is located in what is left of the once bustling Mallard Creek Shopping center which is now essentially vacant.

We had heard that the place is going to have to move as Meijer's is going to take over the old Wal-Mart and raze the stores in that section to enlarge.  They said they were looking for a new place to operate and we were quick to suggest Fox Lake where our Chinese buffet closed a year ago.
