From Oldies News, a really great site to find out what is going on with anybody connected with old music. I like old music.
PAUL GODDARD. 68. Died April 29, 2014. Founding member and bass player of the Georgia's Atlanta Rhythm Section/ Formed as the house band for Studio One in Doraville, Georgia. They started out on their own in 1971, but didn't have a big hit until 1977's "So Into You" went to #7.
Other big hits were "Imaginary Lover" (#7 1978), "I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight" (#17 in 1978) and "Spooky" (#17 in 1979).
Rolling Stone Magazine named Goddard's work on "Another Man's Woman" from the 1979 live album "Are You Ready" as one of the Top Five bass solos of all time. I listened to it on You Tube and see why.
Other hits for the band were "Doraville" in 1974, "Juk'in" in 1976 and "Champagne Jam."
It is too bad that their biggest hits were slow and pretty as these guys could really "cook."
